Auburn Mayor Nominated for Leadership Award

Auburn Mayor Linda Blechinger is one of five women nominated for an award presented by the National League of Cities' Women in Municipal Government constituency group.

The National League of Cities’ Women in Municipal Government constituency group will recognize one of the finalists with the 2011 Women in Municipal Government Leadership Award.

The award recognizes individual achievement in initiating creative and successful programs in municipal government that helps residents, particularly if the leadership serves as a specific mentoring model for future female leaders.

The remaining four finalists for the award are:

  • Carol K. Chen, mayor, Cerritos, Calif.
  • Eva Galambos, mayor, Sandy Springs
  • Joanne M. Sanders, minority leader and councilor at-large, Indianapolis, Ind.
  • Rebecca Wurzburger, mayor pro tem, Santa Fe, N.M.

The award winner will be announced Nov. 11 during the WIMG Leadership Award Luncheon during the National League of Cities' Congress of Cities and Exposition in Phoenix, Ariz.
