Athens Banner-Herald: Significant Changes Ahead for Barrow Government

The newspaper reports Barrow County Chairman Danny Yearwood has not decided if he will seek re-election.

The Athens Banner-Herald reports speculation has already begun on who will seek election as Barrow County Board of Commissioners chairman when qualifying begins in May.

Barrow to shift day-to-day management of the county government from the commission chairman to a full-time manager.

The office of chairman will become a part-time position with a reduction in pay. The chair will have full voting powers alongside commissioners but will not retain a veto.
