Barrow County Woman Under Arrest Threatens to Kill Officer if Handcuffs are Removed

The woman's arrest followed a reported domestic dispute at an Elm Street residence in Winder.

A woman recently threatened to kill a Winder police officer who transported her to the Barrow County Detention Center if personnel there took off her handcuffs while the officer was in the intake area with her. 

The woman's arrest followed a reported domestic dispute at an Elm Street residence in Winder. When an officer arrived at the location, a man was observed telling the suspect she needed to leave. The woman then tried to walk past an officer when asked to stop just before several other patrol units blocked her from leaving. Her response according to an incident report? "Oh [expletive deleted] the [expletive deleted] police are everywhere."

When asked her name, the woman reportedly became loud and belligerent, and an officer smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from her person and saw her swaying and staggering.

When the officer spoke with the male resident, he said the woman, a former tenant, had arrived and began beating on the door demanding to be let inside. When she wasn't allowed in, the suspect reportedly grabbed a bottle and shattered in on the ground. When the officer attempted to place the suspect under arrest, she she tried to pull away and other officers grabbed her and placed her in handcuffs. 

En route to the detention center, the woman reportedly started yelling, asking why she was going to jail. She then began crying and screaming and said he hated the officer. At the detention center, the suspect attempted to exit the vehicle on her own and after speaking to a deputy, she turned around and spat on the center center divider glass inside the patrol vehicle.

In the intake area, the suspect told deputies that if they took her out of the handcuffs she was going to kill the Winder officer. 

Ann Gibson Baughcum, 26, of 84 Elm St. in Winder, was charged with public drunkenness and booked into the Barrow County Detention Center.
