Woman Says She Was Stabbed While Straddling Another Woman's Boyfriend

The girlfriend reportedly walked in and caught her boyfriend and another woman in bed together. The boyfriend said he "jumped on the floor and hid under the bed" when his girlfriend entered the room.

A Winder woman suffered a three-inch deep stab wound as a result of an alleged assault which occurred after the female was discovered in a compromising position with another woman's boyfriend.

A Barrow County Sheriff's deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 600 block of Chicken Lyle Road on Aug. 25 in response to a report of an injury. When the deputy arrived, he found the 44-year-old Winder woman being treated by medics. The woman, according to the report, initially said she had fallen and cut her back on some glass. At one point while speaking with a medic, the woman referred to the injury as a stab wound but quickly corrected herself.

The deputy noticed that each time he asked the woman about any type of altercation, she would "change her demeanor and play like she was too intoxicated to answer the question." When asked what happened, the woman reportedly told the deputy she did not know.

While attempting to determine what had transpired, the deputy noticed Tammi Jo Pirkle, 45, of Winder, walking closer to where he and the Winder woman were standing. The deputy asked the Winder woman if she would like to go somewhere else to speak. As the two began to walk away, Pirkle allegedly began to follow and the deputy instructed her to remain where she was.

Once the two had moved away from Pirkle, the deputy again asked the Winder woman what had taken place.

"She stuck me," the woman reportedly replied, referring to Pirkle.

The woman then added she was stabbed with a knife and felt she needed to go to the hospital because she didn't know how deep the injury was. The deputy then asked why Pirkle would have stabbed the woman. According to the incident report, the woman replied, "I was in her bedroom with her boyfriend and Tammi came in and found me on top of her boyfriend straddling him. Next thing I know is I felt something and thought she hit me but found out she stabbed me."

At that point, the deputy placed Pirkle in handcuffs and the Winder woman was transported by ambulance to Barrow Regional Medical Center.

The deputy then interviewed Pirkle's boyfriend. The man said he and Pirkle had been fighting earlier in the day and she subsequently left the house.

"[The man] said while Tammi was gone, he and [the Winder woman] began fooling around," the deputy wrote in the report. "[The man] said they ended up in his bedroom and got partially undressed and [the Winder woman] was on him and he was under her while she was straddling him."

The man said he noticed the bedroom door open and saw Pirkle standing there. According to the male, Pirkle screamed and then "came after" the Winder woman. He said he heard the Winder woman say she was hurt or had been stabbed, but he wasn't sure which because "he immediately went and jumped on the floor and hid under the bed."

The man later led the deputy to where the knife that had been used to stab the Winder woman had been hidden. The man admitted hiding the knife at the request of both women.

Pirkle was transported to the Barrow County Detention Center and booked on a single count of aggravated assault. The knife was placed into evidence.

After leaving Pirkle at the jail, the deputy went to the hospital to check on the Winder woman's condition. The woman's doctor reportedly advised the knife had penetrated three inches into the woman's back, narrowly missing her kidney. The doctor added the woman would be free to leave after they finished treating the wound.
