Woman Says 'Baby Daddy' Will Not Return Her Gun

The "baby daddy" claimed he bought the gun and had a bill of sale.

A dispute over the ownership of a handgun prompted a Buford woman to contact the Barrow County Sheriff's Office on June 16.

A deputy was dispatched to the Patrick Mill Road residence to meet with the woman and her "baby daddy." According to the incident report, the woman said her "baby daddy" had her gun and would not return it.

When asked about the gun, the "baby daddy" reportedly said he "bought that [expletive deleted] gun" from the woman and had a bill of sale.

The woman conceded that her "baby daddy" had in fact bought the gun, but added that since he had not yet registered it in his name, she wanted it back. The deputy explained that since she had legally sold the man the gun, she had no reason to demand its return.

The woman then claimed a Gwinnett County Police officer told her she still owns the gun since her "baby daddy" had not yet registered it.

"I again informed her that she needs to understand that if she (sells) something to someone, she should not assume that she still has rights to it," the deputy wrote in the report.

The woman then informed the deputy she intended to take her "baby daddy" to court to regain possession of the weapon.

"I told her that if she wanted to waste her money on court expenses then that was her business," the report stated.
