Woman Found Sleeping in Stolen Vehicle

The woman and a second suspect were arrested and charged with theft by receiving stolen property.

An Auburn resident was arrested June 16 after she was found sleeping in a van that had been reported stolen.

A Winder police officer observed the vehicle, a 1999 Dodge Caravan, parked with its lights on at an East May Street business about 2 a.m. Upon approaching the vehicle, which dispatch had advised had been reported stolen by Gwinnett police June 14, the officer found a woman asleep. She was awakened and arrested.

While the officer was waiting for a towing company to arrive and impound the van, a male walked up carrying a large gas can. He told the officer he and the woman did not have enough gas to get back to Gainesville. The male suspect was also arrested.

Alicia E. Shook, 20, of 315 Clover Drive in Auburn, and Jacob Aaron Brothers, 33, of 5532 Magnolia Way in Buford, were both charged with theft by receiving stolen property.
