Winder Resident Reports Witnessing Liquor Snatch while Intoxicated

These are summaries of recent incidents to which Winder police responded.

On Nov. 6, 2011, a Winder police officer met with a city resident reporting a burglary at his home on Capitol Avenue.

The complainant said he saw an individual he knew enter his residence through the open front door and take two bottles of liquor, Canadian Mist and Hennessy, valued at $15.99 and $28 respectively.

The complainant told the officer the person who took his liquor was “evil” before admitting he was extremely drunk at the time he made the 911 call reporting the burglary. The complainant said he intended to press charges.

Here are summaries of other recent incidents to which Winder police responded.

  • On Nov. 7, 2011, an officer responded to the county mental health department at 98 Lanthier St. An employee told the officer a patient had sent a letter to one of the doctors stating he wanted a response or he would bust out all the windows in the parking lot. Since doctors do not provide written responses to patients, the employee asked the officer to check on the patient. The officer located the man, who said he was fine and was dog sitting.
  • On Nov. 7, 2011, an officer was dispatched to a Jackson Street location in response to a report of a theft. The complainant told the officer someone had stolen her cell phone purchase receipt and rebate paperwork sometime during the night from either her vehicle or home, both of which were left unlocked.
  • On Oct. 6, 2011, an officer responded to a report of theft at a Rutledge Drive residence. The complainant said someone entered his pickup truck and took $100 in cash. The resident said the truck was left unlocked in his driveway and the cash was in the center console. No other items were reported missing.
