Winder Resident with Suspended License Tells Deputy Brother was Driving but Passenger Contradicts Story

The driver, who was having car trouble and had stopped in a local business park, was arrested and got a ride to the Barrow County Detention Center.

A man with a suspended license who told a deputy that his brother was driving was contradicted by a passenger, who said the man's brother hadn't been with them at all.

A deputy with the Barrow County Sheriff's Office was on patrol in the area of Patrick Indiustrial Business Park on Feb. 24 and observed an occupied vehicle parked at a location. Upon speaking with the occupants, the male in the driver's seat told the deputy they had been parked there about an hour and were having vehicle trouble. The man said his brother had driven there and was picked up by someone in order to get tools to fix the car. When the deputy ran the man's license, it came back suspended.

The deputy them spoke with the passenger, who confirmed the car trouble.

"He stated that they opened some beers and were drinking and 'chilling' since they got there," the deputy wrote in an incident report. "I asked him who was driving, and he pointed at Mr. Bradford and stated, 'He was of course.' He stated that Mr. Bradford’s brother had not been with them at all."

The deputy again spoke with the male in the driver's seat and he admitted to driving. Jesse James Bradford, 35, of 117 W. Midland Ave. in Winder, was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended. He was transported to the Barrow County Detention Center.
