Suspected Drunken Driver Arrested on Outstanding Warrant

On Feb. 11, 2012, a Winder police officer was dispatched to the Publix Shopping Center on Monroe Highway in reference to a report of a possible drunken driver.


A suspected drunken driver shopping the store was arrested after a Winder officer ran his name and birth date and found an active warrant out of Walton County.

On Feb. 11, 2012, the officer was dispatched to the on Monroe Highway in reference to a report of a possible drunken driver. Upon arrival, the officer observed the reported vehicle parked in front of the store and approached the passenger, who the officer saw drinking a beer. After pouring out his beverage upon the officer's request, the passenger said the driver was inside the store buying more alcohol.

Upon entering the store, the clerk advised the officer the suspect had run outside when he saw the patrol car pull up. He was located behind the shopping center and identified himself. When the officer ran the suspect's name and birth date through the Georgia Crime Information Center, the information returned an active warrant for probation violation out of Walton County.

The suspect, Larry Dale Duckworth of 620 Mountain Creek Church Road in Monroe, was arrested and transported to the Barrow/Walton county line and turned over to a Walton County deputy.
