Derek Anthony Cavin, 26, was arrested by Hall County authorities on warrants issued out of Gwinnett County related to a motor vehicle theft. According to the Barrow County Sheriff's Office, he was already a suspect in two Subway restaurant robberies based on video footage obtained from the stores in both Barrow and Gwinnett.

On July 31, a suspect entered the Subway at 444 Atlanta Highway dressed in a Subway uniform and brandished a knife to the clerk. The suspect jumped over the counter, opened the cash drawer and stole approximately $150. There was only one employee at the store at the time and that employee was not injured in the incident. According to sheriff’s office investigators, the agency obtained video footage from the store’s surveillance system that showed an unmasked Cavin committing the offense.
