  • On July 3, an officer was dispatched to Second Street near the Statham city limits in response to a report of a golf cart in a ditch. Upon arrival, the officer found the green, John Deere golf cart with an open beer can in the cup holder. The golf cart had not been reported stolen and the officer couldn’t locate an owner. The golf cart was towed.
  • On July 5, a officer responded to a 911 hang up and made contact with a man walking down the street with a suitcase. The man said he had flown in from the west coast the day before to meet a woman he met online. The man said he and the woman were involved in a verbal altercation and he had wanted to leave the residence. When the man attempted to call 911, he said the woman unplugged the phone jack then left the residence. The woman could not be contacted for questioning.
  • On July 14, an officer responded to a residence on Butterfly Lane where the resident reported his neighbor’s two dogs had entered his property and attempted to get into dog food on his back porch. The officer then spoke to the dogs’ owner, who said she would try to keep the animals under control. An animal control officer who arrived on the scene issued the owner two citations related to allowing the animals to run loose.
  • On July 15, an officer was dispatched to a Callie Lane residence in reference to a report of a dog running loose. The resident told the officer the dog had run into her yard and scared her grandchildren. An individual who rents a room to the dog’s owner, who she said was out of town, reported the dog had run out the door and would not come when called. The officer saw the dog in the street. Animal control was called to pick up the animal.
