A South Carolina man was arrested Tuesday, Aug. 28, by Task Force investigators.
Officials say he traveled to Barrow County with the intention of having sexual relations with strangers he believed to be a mother and her 8-year-old daughter.
According to a news release, an undercover officer with the assigned to the Sheriff’s Office Crime Task Force posed as a 34-year-old mother and chatted with the suspect online for two weeks. Investigators said the suspect was very explicit in requests for sexual acts through his online chats.
David Alan Wolf, 62, of Rock Hill, S.C., is the latest individual arrested by the sheriff's office in connection with an ongoing undercover investigation involving online sexual predators. Wolf was arrested without incident and remains in the . He has been charged with one count of sexual exploitation of children.
Even though an alleged parent was the person chatting in this particular case, children themselves remain vulnerable to online predators, the release reads. The sheriff’s office encourages all parents to monitor their children’s Internet activity, including chat logs, history of sites visited, social networking sites, etc. Any suspicious activity should be reported to law enforcement.
