Sheriff's Office Makes Arrest in Continued Efforts to Protect Children Online

Local law enforcement continues to crack down on those suspected of committing or attempting to commit Internet crimes against children.

Deputies with the Barrow County Crime Task Force and officers with the continue to crack down on those suspected of committing or attempting to commit Internet crimes against children.

Following the most recent arrest, deputies said the suspect, James Christopher Redman, 50, of Marietta, had inappropriate conversations with an undercover investigator he thought was an underage female.

On June 8, the suspect arranged to meet an undercover investigator at a location within Barrow County. When the suspect arrived at the location and was identified he was taken into custody by investigators.

“It is imperative that parents monitor the use of computers by their children to include social networking sites and histories of sites visited,” Sheriff Jud Smith said in a news release. “The Sheriff’s Office will continue to investigate, apprehend and prosecute predators who are trying to gain access to the children of Barrow County.”

Redman has been charged with one count of enticing a child for indecent purposes, five counts of violating the Computer or Electronic Pornography and Child Exploitation Prevention Act and one count of criminal attempt to commit child molestation. He is currently being held at the .
