Sheriff's Office Awarded $20K Traffic Enforcement Grant
The grant award is in recognition of the work the Barrow County Sheriff's Office has done as the coordinating agency of the GOHS Piedmont Area Traffic Enforcement Network.
The Governor's Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) has awarded the Barrow County Sheriff's Office a $20,000 traffic enforcement grant.
The award is in recognition of the the BCSO's work as the coordinating agency of GOHS's Piedmont Area Traffic Enforcement Network (PATEN), which includes agencies in Barrow, Oconee, Clarke, Oglethorpe, Madison, Elbert, and Wilkes Counties.
“This is our way of supporting the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office through its continued leadership via Coordinator Ed Weaver and the PATEN traffic enforcement network,” said GOHS Law Enforcement Services Director Powell Harrelson in a released statement. “We want to make sure they can continue their region-wide efforts to protectGeorgia motorists from drunk and otherwise dangerous drivers. They’ve proven their dedication and this grant serves not only as recognition for that hard work, but as means for continuing the GOHS mission of reducing crashes, injuries and fatalities on our roads.”
Sheriff Jud Smith said his office is honored to receive the grant, half of which will be spent to support PATEN activities and the rest on safety equipment for the BCSO.
