Riverside Military Student Dies from Injuries Sustained in Gwinnett Pedestrian Accident

A memorial service is planned Friday for the Riverside Military Academy student who died Tuesday from injuries he suffered in a pedestrian accident in Duluth last week.
The Gainesville, Ga., school said on its Facebook page that Cadet Mingyu Gao will be memorialized Friday at 11:30 p.m. in the Carlos and Sandra Cervantes Theatre on the school’s campus (info: 770-538-2879 or via email at publicrelations@riversidemilitary.com).
Cadet Gao, 18, was from China.

He was removed from life support on Tuesday, the AJC reported.
Gao and another Riverside cadet were crossing Peachtree Industrial Boulevard near Duluth last Friday night when they were struck by a car. Gao was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center in critical condition. The other student suffered a concussion and broken leg.
