Pizza Delivery Driver Says Someone Opened His Car Door at Stop Sign and Struck Him

According to an incident report, the delivery driver's manager had the employee call police.

A pizza delivery drive told a Winder police officer he was stopped at a stop sign when someone opened his car door and struck him in the face.

An officer was dispatched to the location in Winder on March 6, 2012, in reference to a report of an attempted robbery, where he spoke to the delivery driver. The man said he had just made his last delivery on East New Street before making a right turn onto Park Avenue and stopping at the first stop sign.

It was there, the driver said, that his door opened and when he turned to look someone reached in his vehicle and struck the right side of his face.

The delivery driver told the officer he "stepped on the gas pedal and drove toward town" but did not see anyone, so he couldn't provide a description of the assailant.

Upon returning to work, the driver's manager instructed him to call the police.
