News Nearby: Monroe Captain D's Prepares to Rebuild after Fire

Company officials have confirmed the restaurant, which was destroyed last month, will be rebuilt on the original site.

A protection fence is up and the hard hat area is marked off — all indications are Captain D's in Monroe is getting ready to rebuild.

Officials at the Captain D's Headquarters in Nashville, Tenn. confirmed the company plans to rebuild at the same location. 

"There are, however, insurance details etc. to be worked out so we can't yet say exactly when it will be ready to re-open," a spokesman said.

It was . Since then, customers have been anxious to know when it will be rebuilt.

Monroe city officials confirmed that members of the planning department were scheduled to meet with officials from Captain D's. The permit to rebuild has not yet been issued, according to the Monroe Planning Department, but officials confirm that there would be no delay once it has been issued.

I grew up in a Winder where doors were not locked and the town was full of folks shopping! SometimesRead More a moonshiner would get caught or the parking meter would run out of time and one would get a parking ticket by one of the three cops in town! Now I keep a weapon handy because of voices and footsteps on the pavement at night! Where are these people coming from and going to after one o'clock in the morning? Why does it take so long for a policeman to show up after a call is made,if they show up at all? I've watched nice homes on my street turn into dumps. They are rented by owners who are only interested in the money and not the quality of people who are renting. Yeah, I keep a weapon and it's loaded for a thief or prowler! When seconds count a cop is only several minutes away,if at all!
