A 30-minute errand provided a large enough window of opportunity for a thief or thieves to steal tens of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry and electronics out of a Hamilton Mill home.
The resident told police she left her Millwater Crossing home at 10:25 a.m. on Sept. 10 to go to the store. When she returned to the house at 11 a.m., she went to her basement to grab something for work.
"She heard a noise that she believed was someone running down the back steps of her deck," the officer wrote in the report. "She went up to her master bedroom and saw the glass door leading to the back deck had been broken and her things gone through."
