Man in Possession of Two Gallons of Vodka Arrested for Public Drunkenness

The man was reportedly "non-compliant due to his level of intoxication."

A Statham man is facing a charge of public drunkenness n connection with an Oct. 29 incident a Winder hotel.

Winder Police responded to the Jameson Inn after receiving a report that an intoxicated male was wandering through the building after being dropped off by a taxi. The officers located Jerry McDonald II, age 51, at the Stafford Street hotel.

McDonald, according to the report, was "non-compliant due to his level of intoxication." The officers noted McDonald's eyes were bloodshot and there was a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person.

"After giving Mr. McDonald numerous chances to cooperate he was unable because of his level of intoxication," the arresting officer wrote in the report. McDonald was subsequently placed under arrest.

At the time of his arrest, McDonald had a suitcase and a bag with him. Inside the bag, the report stated, were two 1-gallon bottles of vodka, one of which had been opened. The officer poured out the vodka remaining in the open container and placed the other gallon bottle in McDonald's suitcase before transporting the man and his belongings to the Barrow County Detention Center.
