Man Captures Neighbor 'Shooting Birds' on Cellphone Video

The video reportedly shows the neighbor "appearing to lift his middle fingers in a provoking manner."

A Winder man contacted authorities on Nov. 11 after an altercation with his neighbor involving obscene hand gestures.

The man said he has filed reports on at least three different occasions regarding the neighbor's activities. The most recent incident, the man explained, began when his neighbor's children were reportedly abusing a dog.

The man said shortly after Barrow County Animal Control left the scene, the neighbor "began to retaliate." The neighbor allegedly pulled his motorcycle onto the property line and began purposely revving the engine. After he stopped revving the engine, the neighbor reportedly went on his back deck and began "shooting birds" at the Winder man.

"[The man] showed me a video recording, captured by his cell phone from his kitchen window, of [the neighbor] on his back deck raising both arms and appearing to lift his middle fingers in a provoking manner," the deputy wrote in the report.

The man said at no point did he exit his residence and acknowledge his neighbor's gestures.

When interviewed by the deputy, the neighbor said there have been numerous problems with the Winder man. The neighbor claimed the Winder man had threatened his children, but he had not reported those incidents. The neighbor admitted shooting a bird at the Winder man out of frustration.

The deputy advised both men to refrain from contacting each other if they could not be civil.

No further action was taken.
