Large-scale Drug Bust Results in 29 Arrests

State and local law enforcement agents have taken drug offenders off Barrow streets.

Twenty-nine suspects were arrested in a large-scale roundup May 10 that involved more than 40 law enforcement agents.

The , , , and state probation and parole officers swarmed through Barrow County searching for wanted felons. The large-scale arrest operation follows the culmination of a lengthy investigation by the Barrow County Crime Task Force. Narcotics Officers from Barrow and Winder made approximately 80 undercover purchases of drugs and controlled substances in recent months from 40 separate offenders. Sheriff’s deputies and other agents began executing arrest warrants May 10 and by the end of the day twenty-nine had been taken into custody.

The sheriff’s office is still searching for the remaining 11 offenders.

A request has been made to the sheriff's office for the names of offenders and the crimes with which they are charged. More information will be released as it becomes available.
