Gas Station Clerk, Customer Robbed at Gunpoint by Two Masked Men

Robbers were wearing all black clothing, ski masks and gloves.

A gas station employee and a customer were robbed, but not physically harmed during a harrowing incident on Nov. 20.

Just after 10 p.m., two men dressed in black and wearing ski masks and gloves entered the Shell Station located at 1233 Atlanta Highway in Winder. The men pulled handguns and ordered the clerk to lie face down on the floor. A Statham man, who had entered the store with the intent of purchasing cigarettes and a drink, was also ordered to go behind the register and lie face down on the floor.

The armed men took $604.32 in cash from one register, $5,080.82 in cash from another register and $100 in cash from a bag. The men also took the gas station employee's cell phone and removed $75 from the Statham man's pocket before fleeing the store on foot.

Deputies later recovered $60 in the grass outside the store and found the employee's cell phone in the roadway near Hardigree Road and Kessler Road.

The incident was captured on surveillance footage. Barrow County Sheriff's Office investigators were called to process the scene. The case is listed as active.
