A former part-time secretary for the Oconee Soil and Water Conservation District office in Winder pleaded guilty to forgery charges and was sentenced to 10 years in prison Thursday, Aug. 30, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reports.
Susan Peppers Hardy will serve two years in prison and eight years on probation and must pay $29,087 in restitution and $1,095 to the district for the cost to hire a private accounting firm to audit its books.
According to the report, between April 2006 and October 2009, Hardy stole more than $29,000 from the district.
