Firefighter Training on Vehicle Extrications to Take Place Next Week in Auburn

The training exercise will include Gwinnett County firefighters.

Firefighters with Barrow County Emergency Services and the Gwinnett County Fire Department will hold a joint training exercise on vehicle extrications in Auburn next week.

The training will take place Tuesday (Oct. 29), Thursday (Oct. 31) and Saturday (Nov. 2) at the intersection of Harmony Grove Church Road and Blackstock Road.

Nov. 5-7, firefighters will be at Mike's Auto Repair for vehicle extrication training. Holding training in two locations will give all Barrow firefighters the opportunity to participate, BCES public information officer Lt. Scott Dakin explained in a press release.

Firefighters will participate in various scenarios involving cars and buses. The training will afford firefighters the opportunity to use different techniques to remove entrapped patients from vehicles.

"This year we will be able to cut open two buses as well which is a great opportunity," Training Captain Bryan Bullock said in a released statement. "We want to thank Collins Salvage Yard and Mike's Auto Repair for donating the vehicles for us to train on. We also wanted citizens to know what is going on when they see firefighters working in the two locations."
