“Firefighters started doing an aggressive interior attack,” Lt. Scott Dakin, public information officer for the department, said in a news release. “However, due to the amount of fire already in the attic and first floor of the house the crews were forced to back out and do an exterior attack.”

Engines 4, 5 and 6, Ladder 7, Med 5 and 6 and Battalion 1 responded to the fire. The house was destroyed by the fire, but crews were able to save vehicles parked in the garage of the home. The American Red Cross responded to assist the family.
