Electrical Failure Likely Cause of Fatal House Fire

The fire is believed to have originated in the sunroom of the Rockwell Church Road home.

Barrow County fire investigators believe an electrical failure is to blame for a Sept. 18 house fire that claimed the life of an 19-month-old child.

According to Barrow County Emergency Services, the fire started in the sunroom and quickly spread due to the open layout of the home. Investigators concluded an electrical failure was the most likely cause of the blaze.

The Fire Investigation Team would like to thank Forensic And Scientific Testing for their assistance,” said Chief Investigator Lt. Blair Darst in a released statement. “They were able to provide technical assistance that helped us determine the cause.”

The investigation is now considered complete, a press release stated.
