Driver Arrested Following Incident in McDonald's Parking Lot

A Winder resident was arrested and charged with aggravated assault after a witness reported she attempted to run over an employee.

A Winder resident was arrested Dec. 4, 2011, following an incident in a local fast-food restaurant parking lot.

Kimberly L. Elliott, 23, of 230 Wood Ave. in Winder, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault after a witness reported she attempted to run over a assistant manager.

The complainant said he called 911 at the request of the assistant manager and was in the restaurant’s drive-through when he observed a black Chevrolet Impala try to pull into a handicap parking space. A delivery truck was stopped in one of the two drive-through lanes and the assistant manager was keeping traffic from blocking the truck.

The driver of the Impala, Kimberly Elliott, told the officer she was trying to pull into the parking space and back into another when the McDonald’s employee confronted her, called her a name and told her to find another parking space. Passengers in the vehicle said the situation was blown out of proportion and the assistant manager was very rude and disrespectful.

When asked if she wanted to press charges against the driver, the assistant manager informed the officer she did.

Elliott was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and reckless driving before being transported to the Barrow County Detention Center.
