Deputies Say Student Brought Loaded Airsoft Guns to School

The County Line Elementary student reportedly threatened to kill another student after showing off the guns.

 A student brought loaded Airsoft guns to class today and threatened to kill another child, according to a news release issued by the .

The child reportedly showed off the guns — air-powered weapons that operate like BB guns but fire softer projectiles that are considered non-lethal — before threatening another student.

School resource officers were notified of the weapons after students reported them to school officials.

“Any time a weapon is brought onto school grounds we take it very seriously,” Sheriff Jud Smith said in a news release.  “The safety of the children and staff of our school system is of the utmost importance to the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office."

The juvenile was taken into custody and later released to his parents through the Department of Juvenile Justice. Pending charges include pointing a gun at another person, possession of a weapon on school property and terroristic threats.
