Sheriff’s deputies responded and quickly surrounded the residence, where multiple unsuccessful attempts were made to contact anyone inside. Deputies then entered the residence and found 66-year-old Diana Freeman dead of apparent gunshot wounds. Ian Muriu was also found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

While the investigation is ongoing, a news release says the indications at this point are that Ian Muriu shot and killed his mother-in-law before turning the gun on himself. His wife was not physically harmed in the incident.

The sheriff’s office is continuing its investigation of the events that led up to the shooting, including evidence of motive. More information will be released when it becomes available.
