Deputies Respond to Reports of Suspicious Activity

The following are summaries of recent incidents or calls for assistance to which deputies responded.

• On Wednesday, June 8, 2011, a deputy was dispatched to a Briscoe Mill Road residence in reference to a report someone broke a window. The resident told the deputy he and everyone else in the home were going to sleep when someone broke a window on the front of the residence. The resident said he went outside but didn’t see anyone in the area. He reported seeing and chasing a male on the property an hour earlier. The deputy checked the area for any suspicious individuals but found none.
• A sheriff’s office deputy responded to a report of harassing phone calls and text messages Wednesday, June 8, 2011. The complainant said she had been receiving texts and calls from a man she didn’t know and showed the deputy several text messages. The deputy called the number and left a voicemail telling the person to stop contacting the complainant.
• On Tuesday, June 7, 2011, a deputy was dispatched to a Cornell Court location in reference to reports of two suspicious vehicles and four suspicious individuals. A resident reported he saw an older model car pull up to a vacant residence nearby. Four males got out of the car, walked once around the residence, paused at the air conditioners and then left the property. The complainant said a few minutes later the males returned in a truck and repeated the process, standing for a long time in front of the air conditioning units before leaving a second time. The responding deputy checked the location for any damage or forced entry and found none before making a request for additional patrol in the area.
• A deputy responded to a report of an odor of marijuana at an apartment off Ga. Highway 211 in Winder. The complainant said he had moved in a few weeks before and had smelled an odor coming from the kitchen and bathroom. The responding deputy was unable to smell any odor of marijuana and advised the resident to discuss the problem with his landlord.
