Couple Reportedly Goes Door to Door Asking for Drugs

Police later determined the one of the individuals had 13 outstanding warrants.

A Nov. 3 investigation into suspicious activity led to the arrest of an Auburn man with 13 outstanding warrants, 12 of which were felonies.

Winder Police were dispatched to the area of West Williams Street and Williams Court in response to a report of a male and female knocking on doors and "asking for drugs."

An officer located the couple on West Williams Street near North Broad Street pushing a shopping cart filled with clothes and other personal items. According to the arrest report, neither denied the suspicious behavior reported to 911.

The male, David Tanner, 29, of Auburn, pointed toward North Broad Street when asked where he lived.

"I was unable to clearly understand what he said however due to the fact that he appeared to be intoxicated," the officer wrote in the report.

After Tanner continued to reach in his bags and pockets while speaking with the officer, the officer decided to conduct a pat down to check Tanner for weapons.

"It must be noted that I had to hold him up several times while I was patting him down," the report stated. "Strong odors of alcohol emanated from his person as he mumbled inaudible speech."

The female, identified as April Bosserman, 33, of Auburn, also pointed in the direction of North Broad when asked where she lived. Both parties claimed to be "just walking."

A check of the criminal information database showed Bosserman had no outstanding warrants. Tanner, however, had 13, of which a dozen were felonies.

Tanner was taken into custody on the outstanding warrants and also cited for public drunkenness and loitering and prowling. Bosserman was also arrested on a charge of loitering and prowling. Both were transported to the Barrow County Detention Center.
