County Emergency Services Receives Piece of World Trade Center
Barrow County Emergency Services has received a piece of American history that will be revealed during a 9/11 commemorative ceremony in Auburn.
has received a piece of American history — a piece of the World Trade Center.
Lt. Ernest Weant submitted an application to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which makes pieces of the buildings destroyed during terrorist attacks Sept. 11, 2011, available to fire departments around the country.
“(That day) is a large day in the history of America and in the history of public safety as well,” Weant said in a news release. “Now we have a tangible piece of that history to share with all of the citizens we serve.”

Barrow County Emergency Services will reveal the piece during a 9/11 ceremony held in Auburn.
“We are very honored to receive this piece of American history. We want citizens to see this part of history for years to come,” Lt. Scott Dakin, public information officer for county emergency services, said in a news release. “It is important to remember our history and this will help us to always remember the sacrifices of so many people on that fateful day.”
