Charges Filed Against Florida Woman Involved in Double-Fatal 316 Wreck

Diane Noles Stotler, 65, faces two counts of homicide by vehicle in the second degree after an investigation by the Georgia State Patrol into the June 2011 accident on Ga. 316 near Jimmy Daniel Road. An arrest does not mean a conviction.

A 65-year-old Orange Park, Florida woman has been charged with two counts of homicide by vehicle in the second degree stemming from an investigation into the June 15, 2011 crash on Ga. 316 that killed two Oconee County residents.

According to earlier reports, Diane Noles Stotler was driving a Acura MDX when she struck a Toyota Camry occupied by Bishop couple Denghui Cheng, 58, and his wife, Caixia Geng, 57, near Jimmy Daniel Road in Oconee County.  Both died at the scene. Stolter and a teenage passenger in her vehicle were transported to hospitals for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Booking reports show Stotler turned herself into the Oconee County Jail on Friday. She was also charged with failure to obey a traffic control device. After posting a $6,200 bond, she was released the same day.

A Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SRCT) investigated the accident using a process that often takes many months to complete because the team must map and photograph the scene and review all of the evidence, interview witnesses, inspect vehicles and examine weather reports.

Amy Eubanks of the State Patrol's collision reconstruction team previously explained the team's findings are reported to the district attorney's office, which decides whether to proceed with a case.
