Cause of Auburn House Fire Under Investigation

The fire damaged a bedroom and the attic inside a home on Wyngate Road.

The cause of a fire at an Auburn residence Friday night, Aug. 2, is under investigation. 

At 8:21 p.m., communication officers with Barrow County Emergency Services received a 911 call reporting a structure fire at 334 Wyngate Road. 

“Upon arrival firefighters found heavy smoke showing from the side of the structure and roof,” Battalion Chief Mike Stoops said in a news release. “We also found fire showing in the attic area of the home.”

Engine 4, Engine 5, Med 4, Med 5 and Battalion 1 responded to the scene. Crews made an aggressive interior attack on the fire and were able to quickly contain the blaze, keeping it from spreading further throughout the home. A bedroom of the house was damaged as well as the attic area above the bedroom. Other areas of the house suffered smoke damage.
