The day after the storm, one of the residents returned to the home and realized someone had been inside the home after finding two empty cans of Lime-a-rita (an alcoholic beverage) in one of the bedrooms. The drinks, he later explained to a Barrow County Sheriff's deputy, had been in the refrigerator.
On Sunday, Aug. 25, the resident again discovered signs that someone may have been going in and out of the home when he found the gate leading into the fenced back yard had been left open.
On Tuesday, Aug. 27, the resident checked on the house once more and found two cans of Miller Lite and a fifth of Vodka had been taken out of the refrigerator inside the house. The resident discovered a Walmart gift card and an Ingles Advantage card on the floor near the back door. The cards did not belong to the resident or any of his family members.
The following day, the resident called the Barrow County Sheriff's Office to report the suspicious activity. The two cards were placed into evidence. There are no listed suspects.
