Reward Offered for Capture of Suspect in Clarke County Shooting

A $50,000 reward has been offered for information that leads to the apprehension of Jamie Donnell Hood.

UPDATE: A $50,000 reward has been offered for the capture of the suspect, who remained at large as of 3 p.m. Wednesday.

The Barrow County Sheriff's Office is asking residents to be on the lookout for a suspect connected to on Tuesday. 

The suspect, Jamie Donnell Hood, is a black male, 33 years old, 5'9" and 175 pounds. He was last seen driving a silver, 2001 Geo Prizm with the tag number 375 GHX.

Deputies are asking anyone who sees this man to call 9-1-1 immediately.

The suspect is wanted by Athens Clarke County police in connection with a shooting that involved an officer who was killed and another who was injured early Tuesday afternoon.

Killed was Senior Police Officer Elmer “Buddy” Christian. Senior Police Officer Tony Howard was wounded and taken to for surgery, according to a statement issued Tuesday evening by ACC Police Maj. Mike Shockley.
