Barrow, Statham Officials Assist in Catching Oconee Burglary Suspect
The suspect fled into the woods and led authorities on a chase for more than 7 hours Friday before surrendering, Oconee County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Lee Weems said.
Several local agencies conducted a more than for a burglary suspect Friday in Oconee and Barrow Counties.
Chief Deputy Lee Weems of the said a man wanted in connection with multiple copper wire thefts was spotted in the act of burglarizing a property off of Barber Creek Road on Friday afternoon.
When deputies approached the man, Weems said he fled into the woods.

A Georgia State Patrol helicopter kept watch from above while a K-9 Unit assisted in the search along with and , authorities said.
Around 11:45 p.m., the Oconee County Sheriff's Office reported that Timothy John Dunagan, 45, of Statham was in custody after surrending to authorities.
