Training Session for Barrow County's Emergency Services Personnel Planned for Tuesday

The drill will be conducted along Bankhead Highway, as well as the intersection at Ga. Highway 11 and Ga. Highway 53, but should not affect any traffic flow.

Barrow County residents may see fire engines, law enforcement patrol cars and ambulances in several locations along Bankhead Highway on Tuesday, April 17. 

But there's no need for concern — Barrow County’s Local Emergency Planning Committee will be conducting a training session. 

The drill is set to begin at 9 a.m. and last till about noon and will be conducted along Bankhead Highway as well as the intersection at Ga. Highway 11 and Ga. Highway 53.

The training scenario is not being released, but the LEPC wants residents to be aware of what's taking place.

“We want citizens to know they may see action in the area,” Penny Clack, emergency management coordinator with Barrow County Emergency Services, said in a news release. “However, it should not affect any traffic flow in the county.”

Several public safety organizations, as well as several businesses, will participate in the training. 

“We want to thank those that are participating for stepping up to help better prepare Barrow County in the event of disaster,” Clack said in the release. “It will be very valuable training for all of us involved.”
