Barrow County Residents Suspect Neighbors in Thefts

Barrow County Sheriff's Office deputies recently responded to complaints in which residents believed their neighbors robbed them.

Two separate incidents were recently reported to the in which the complainants suspected their neighbors of alleged thefts. 

On April 16, 2012, a deputy met with a complainant in reference to a burglary report. The East Wright Street resident told the deputy someone had broken into her apartment while she and her husband were out of town. 

The woman said when the couple left the residence all doors and windows were closed and locked. Upon returning about a week later, they found a window open.

When the couple entered the residence, they noticed several items missing, including a laptop computer valued at $200, several cans of food valued at $30 and a prescription for Lortab.

The complainant said she suspected her neighbor may have been responsible. The woman said the couple had invited the neighbor over for dinner the day before going out of town because the neighbor had no food. The complainant said the neighbor had mentioned wanting a laptop and her husband caught the neighbor looking in their bedroom.

On April 14, 2012, a deputy was dispatched to a Bell Road residence in Winder in response to a report of theft. 

The complainant told the deputy someone had entered her residence between Wednesday, April 11, and Thursday, April 12, and had stolen some food items, including milk, a box of Apple Jack's cereal, a container of pepper, a container of seasoning salt, a small bottle of cooking oil, a small pack of pork chops and a bag of potatoes. The total value of the food items was estimated at $14.

The complainant said she believed her neighbor may have taken the food.
