Man Arrested in Connection With Indecent Proposals at Grocery Store

A Winder man reportedly confessed to leaving an explicit note.

Three women recently contacted authorities after finding indecent notes left on their vehicles in the Ingles parking lot.

The first incident, according to a Winder Police Department report, occurred on Aug. 29. A woman said she arrived at Ingles at approximately 8 a.m. When she returned to her car at 8:57 a.m., she found a note from someone identifying himself as "David."

In the note, "David" asked the woman if she would like to meet with him and watch him pleasure himself.

"I'd love to lick you as well but if you don't want at least meet me and watch me," the note reportedly stated.

The note included a telephone number indicating where "David" could be reached.

That same phone number was also listed as the contact information in a second note found on a vehicle by another woman and her passenger. The Aug. 30 incident also occurred in the Ingles parking lot. In that note, the author offered the recipients $50 to meet him and watch him relieve himself.

One of the women, according to a Barrow County Sheriff's Office incident report, decided she would text the male "in an attempt to catch a child molester."

The woman exchanged several texts with the male and she and her passenger went to Barrow Regional Medical Center after the male said he wanted to meet them there. Once at the hospital, the woman received a text telling her to meet instead at the Lions Club.

"[The woman] thought it was a joke until she noticed an older green Dodge Ram following her," the report indicated.

As they passed the Lions Club, the woman who had been texting the male reportedly received a text offering her and her passenger an extra $60 if "they took their shirts off while he 'get off'." At that point, the woman became frightened and called 911.

According to the incident report, the women watched as the Dodge truck pulled into a nearby driveway. One of the women later told the deputy she saw a white male with a hole in the crotch of his jeans exit the truck before getting into another car driven by an unidentified female.

The deputy advised the women to call law enforcement should they ever find themselves in a similar situation again and not take matters into their own hands. After speaking with the women, the deputy checked the registration on the Dodge Ram, which was still parked where the male left it. The vehicle was registered to Daryl Scott Wall, 37, of Winder, who returned as being wanted out of Gwinnett County for a probation violation. The vehicle was uninsured and the registration had been suspended.

The next day, the deputy went to unnamed location in an attempt to serve the warrant against Wall. Wall was present and, upon questioning, admitted he left the note offering the woman $50 to watch him relieve himself.

Wall was placed under arrest for the outstanding warrant and, due to the fact he admitted driving the Dodge Ram, was also charged with failure to maintain insurance and knowingly driving a motor vehicle with suspended, cancelled or revoked registration. Additionally, he was charged with two counts of pandering for allegedly asking the two women to watch him engage in sexual activity.

Due to the fact the incident occurred in Winder, a Winder Police Department detective was asked to review the case. According to the detective's report, a BCSO investigator "will be working this case further per his supervisor."
