Arrest of Alpharetta Man is Latest in Sheriff's Office's Online Sting

Investigators with the Barrow County Crime Task Force have arrested another suspect in an ongoing investigation into suspected online sexual predators.

On Thursday, June 16, investigators arrested Sridhar Marta, 38, of Alpharetta.

According to the , an undercover task force investigator assigned from the posed as a 14-year-old female and chatted online with the suspect for two days before he suggested a meeting. Deputies said Marta drove approximately 90 minutes to Statham to meet the female with the intent to have sexual relations with her. Instead, he was met by task force investigators who made the arrest without incident.

Law enforcement agents from the cities of Auburn and Statham contributed to the investigation as well.

Marta is charged with enticing a child for indecent purposes and violation of the computer pornography child exploitation act.

This latest arrest marks the ninth made by the Barrow County Sheriff's Office since investigations began in September.
