County 911 Communication Center Receives 3,396 Calls from Nov. 4-10

Firefighters with Barrow County Emergency Services responded to 145 incidents.

Communication officers with Barrow County Emergency Services received 3,396 calls into the 911 Communication Center from Nov. 4 through 10, with public safety personnel responding to a total of 937 incidents. Firefighters were dispatched to 145 incidents, which included the following: 

  • At 9:54 p.m. Nov. 4, communication officers received a 911 call reporting a fire at 1037 Beaver Dam Road. Engine 5, Engine 4, Med 5 and Battalion 1 responded and found a barn in which hay was stored fully involved in fire. Firefighters were able to quickly bring the fire under control. The cause of this fire is under investigation by county fire investigators.
  • On Nov. 5, communication officers dispatched Engine 6 at 6:59 a.m. to a possible woods fire near 1689 Bismark Circle. Firefighters found approximately ¼-acre of grass burning between two homes. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire without it spreading any further.
  • Also on Nov. 5, communication officers received several 911 calls reporting a structure fire in the 800 block of Bethel Bower Road. Engine 3, Ladder Truck 7, Med 3, Med 4 and Battalion 1 were dispatched. Upon arrival of firefighters, found heavy black smoke and fire coming from a bedroom of the home. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
  • On Nov. 10, numerous calls were received about 11:55 a.m. reporting a woods fire on Ga. Highway 316 near the Gwinnett County line. Engine 7 responded and found Gwinnett firefighters on the scene of a woods and grass fire just inside Gwinnett County. Firefighters assisted Gwinnett County Fire Rescue crews with extinguishing the fire.
