2 Pit Bulls Attack Man Inside Home

A neighbor's two pit bulls tore a chunk out of a man's leg, a caller told police.

A neighbor's two pit bulls attacked a man inside his apartment in North Mission Viejo Thursday morning near the corner of Santa Margarita and Marguerite.

Police were called at 9 a.m. when a man was reportedly bitten in the back of the leg. His wife told police a "chunk of meat was taken out of her husband's leg."

She said the dogs' owners were hiding the animals inside their apartment.

The police dispatcher said it sounded like the neighbors had been fighting.

The call came from the 21600 block of Marguerite Parkway.

So do you want TRUT H or SENSATIONALISM? I am well acquainted with the people who own the dogs - and I know exactly what happened. All of the "facts" posted here, except for the fact that "Mr" DID get bitten… are false. FACTS are - it happened OUTSIDE the home NOT INSIDE. The owner(s) did not HIDE the dogs inside - they PUT them inside & waited for animal control. Yes... Dog #1 did slip through the door as both parties were exiting (one w/her dog) & jumped on the little dog. Fortunately, the lady ran back inside relatively unscathed. The man who owned the "pit" threw himself flat on the ground over his dog & opens the dog's mouth to release little dog. (Anyone knows you can't open the mouth of a pitbull.) The episode was nearly over. THEN... OUT comes Mr w/a 9MM SEMI-AUTOMATIC WEAPON ready to shoot! ... Just as Dog #2 is coming outside after hearing the commotion. Dog 2 sees the man hovering OVER HIS OWNER, GUN IN HAND yelling, screaming, & swearing. CLEARLY there was a threat so of course, he starts barking, snapping & jumping at Mr. Instead of going inside to saftey & closing the door - this heavily armed "victim" decides to start KICKING at the dog!! (Dog #2 is MAYBE 1/4 pitbull) Naturally, he got bit. The Police call?? From the dog OWNER and his son filing a police report. (Brandishing a handgun is ILLEGAL) But THAT will be another story. Maybe YOU want this guy for a neighbor - not me... I'll take the dogs any day.

Those pit bulls must be pretty smart to recognize a 9mm weapon. Maybe the guy should have been walking out with a box of band aids instead of a gun; Surely Dog 2 would have heeled. By the way, did any of the pit bull owners look like Leon Spinks?

Clearly you enjoy getting on line to show how IGNORANT people can really be. Unlike you, dogs are smart enough to sense when there is danger; and unlike you, they have the spine to put their lives on the line to defend a loved one. The "band aid" comment... What??? Is that supposed to be humor?? Aren't you sharp as marbles! Incredible wit! Oh - and let's not forget the RACIST remark, referencing Leon Spinks. Well you know what part on the body they say opinions are like... and you've got it mastered. You not only have one - you are one.

Hello, I know the owners of the two pitbulls (mentioned in the news story above) as well as having spent time with both pitbulls. Both dogs are very sweet and loyal. Its unfortunate that pitbulls along with other certain breeds of dogs are given a "bad name." But not all pitbulls along with other certain breeds are vicious animals. The story written in the news letter by Peter Schelden is incomplete and all facts should be obtained before the story is to be published. I feel for the neighbors who were allegedly attacked, as I am sure it was not life threatening as exaggerated. But an attack can also be instigated by taunting an animal or while its' protecting its owner. I hope both neighbors can work it out amicably and that the pitbulls return safely back to the owners where they belong. This will be my only reply.

"a man was reportedly bitten in the back of the leg... "Both dogs are very sweet and loyal." "chunk of meat was taken out of her husband's leg." "pitbulls...are given a "bad name."" "Pit Bulls by nature are not vicious." "Pit bulls are dangerous animals." "it's in their nature to fight." "[Pit Bulls] are loving dogs."
