After five days and six nights away from home, Sam has been reunited with his owners.

The black Labrador retriever went missing on Jan. 1. On Monday, Jan. 7, he limped home. Owner Darla Miller posted the following update on the lost pet announcement:

Hey Kristi, I had someone from the neighborhood across the street call me on Monday and Sam had just wandered in to his yard! Somehow he survived 5 days and 6 nights in this crazy weather!! Anyway, he is injured and it's apparent that he was hit by a car. We took him to our vet and then he referred us to UGA. Sam will have surgery this afternoon to put his hip back in to place. He will recover, maybe not 100%, but he will be home! Thanks so much for your help! :)

Thanks to all the Dacula and Barrow Patch readers who kept an eye out for Sam and to those who have worked to reunite other lost pets with their owners. If you have lost or found a pet, please post a photo and details on our lost and found pets board and maybe someone in the community will be able to help reunite the pet with his or her owner.
