A Table that has Some History Behind It

Proud owners of a piece of Winder history — in a way.

We made it through almost four years without one — who needs an end table when you have board games like Monopoly Jr., Candy Land and Scrabble to stack up and use as a wobbly table for beverages?

It was a challenge each time you put your cup on the top game. Whoa, whoa! That was a close one.

Then I saw a story in one of our local newspapers about a respected that was closing. It was more than that, though. The husband and wife who own the store have owned businesses in downtown Winder for 63 years. If we're going to replace our beloved board game table, we should do it with a table that has some history behind it. A story. The great deal we'd get on it because of the "store closing" sale was just an extra for me. I wanted to have something from Larry's Furniture, something special.

We got the end table and more. Our living room now has an ottoman that opens to hide the games that once served as cup-resters. And, after 10 years of wanting one, we finally got a porch swing.

Thank you, Larry's Furniture. I raise my glass to you and then put it on the coaster to keep the table we bought safe. I wish you very happy retirement years.
