Introduction

I'm running for Winder City Council with the hopes of adding a bit of diversity and a new perspective to the Council.

I am a do-er, an educator, and a problem-solver. I believe in continuous improvement and in leaving something better than I found it.

I enjoy living in small towns, contributing to my community, and getting to know people.

I look forward to meeting even more members of the Winder community and I will work to win your support!

Some of the projects I would like to participate in are:
1.) Improving the downtown streetscape! This includes utilizing the vacant buildings, making it possible for small businesses to survive and thrive in our downtown, working to create a downtown that is beautiful and a place where individuals and families want to spend time.

2.) Increasing the utilization of the Winder Community Center and Jug Tavern Park and Pavilion.

3.) Providing support and raising awareness for the local non-profit and human service agencies and resources available for Winder residents.

In addition to these projects, I am looking forward to learning what the residents' concerns are and what issues they would like to see addressed.

I am pursuing my Ph.D. in College Student Affairs Administration at UGA and my husband is a manager at Lowe's. We moved to Winder, GA in early 2010 and have loved the area and the people we have met.

I am a volunteer and the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of Peace Place, Inc., the local domestic violence program and shelter that serves Banks, Barrow and Jackson counties. In the past I have trained and volunteered for the Piedmont Rape Crisis Center and listed available animals for Leftover Pets.

My husband and I have four dogs, all of which were rescues of some sort. We are from Pennsylvania originally.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry & General Science Education and a Master of Science degree in Counseling and College Student Personnel.

I am an administrator by skill and by training. I believe in advocating for those who feel they are unable to advocate for themselves or are not being heard.

Please check out my campaign Facebook page by searching "Nicole Tobias Winder City Council".  "Like" and "Share" it so more residents of Winder will learn that there will be an election for the At Large position of the Winder City Council!

THANK YOU for participating in the conversation, for getting involved in local politics, and for wanting to live in a community you can be proud of!
