Helping feed folks = new friends + fellowship+ humbling fun

The Barrow County Benevolence Ministries has a Mobile Food Pantry at the Holly Hill Mall, on the 4th Thursday of each month. (3rd Thursday Nov./Dec.) It officially starts at 9 a.m., but folks start lining up too get food around 6 a.m. and the volunteers arrive at 8 a.m.
Area businesses and churches and civic groups sponsor it each month. The cost is $800 and partial sponsorships are available. This month the Barrow County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Team was there in full force, along with a bevy of community volunteers, of which I was one. We helped feed over 400 families in a little over an hour.
There is nothing more humbling than seeing the look of excitement that some folks have when they see those boxes of food loaded into their cars. And, the most excellent fellowship we all share makes it a lot of fun.  We can always use more volunteers and the Benevolence Ministries can always use donations. If your heart leads you in that direction, we'd love to have you join us next month!
