Statham is Already 'Planting Seeds' for Upcoming Sunflower Festival

The city is seeking participants and volunteers for popular fall festival, while a local running club trains for the Sunflower Festival 5K.

As one of Barrow County’s most beloved fall events, the Statham Sunflower Festival has already become a topic of discussion all around the city.

Both vendors and volunteers are needed to make this event a success.  Set for Saturday, Sept. 15, in downtown Statham, the festival will boast a fun-filled day featuring vendors, crafts, music, food and fun for the whole family. The day’s events will also include a 5K run/walk, a car show and a street dance.

  • Aspiring participants in the 5K run/walk are welcome to train with the Statham Running Club, which meets in front of Statham Elementary School at 8 a.m. Saturday mornings. 
  • The Friends of the Statham Library is holding a raffle for a hand-crafted afghan in University of Georgia colors, which is currently on display at the . Tickets are $5 each or three for $10. The drawing will be held at the Sunflower Festival, and all proceeds wukk go to the library.
