Jam-Packed Weekend Ahead for Braselton Residents

A number of special events are in store for local residents and visitors on April 28 and 29.

The return of festivals to the towns and municipalities that dot the North Georgia landscape is a clear sign that spring is truly under way.

Residents of one Barrow County town in particular have a very busy weekend ahead of them as Braselton makes ready to host its popular Antique & Gardening Festival at Braselton Park, as well as a at the Mulberry River and community night with the Georgia Force.

Braselton residents and visitors to the vibrant historic town may want to add the following events to their weekend to-do list:

Saturday, April 28 — The Braselton, Barrow & Jackson Counties RiversAlive event 

This river cleanup and beautification project welcomes volunteers to meet at 8 a.m. at 5040 Ga. Highway 53 in the Community Room at the back of the Braselton Police & Municipal Court building. After signing in and picking up supplies, participants will be broken into two groups and head to separate locations on the Mulberry River. Volunteers are welcome to bring pruning shears and work gloves for some light trimming along the river walk. Volunteers will meet back at the Community Room about noon for pizza and drinks. Saturday, April 28 — Mulberry Park Garden Club second annual plant sale at Duncan Corners Square

Head to 7416 Spout Springs Road in Flowery Branch bright and early for this “rain or shine” plant sale featuring varied annuals, perennials, houseplants, hostas, crepe myrtles, beauty berry shrubs, daylilies, tiger lilies, spearmint, ice plant, hyacinth, bean vine, dill and more. The green thumb fun begins at 8 a.m.

Saturday, April 28, and Sunday, April 29 — Braselton Antique & Gardening Festival

Braselton Park will be crawling with treasure hunters and tree huggers during the upcoming Antique & Gardening Festival. Sponsored by local vendors Braselton Antique Market, A Flea An’tiques, Countryside Antiques, Our Nana’s Attic and Auction Ventures, admission to the festival is free. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Festival hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information about this popular annual event, call 706-824-7204.

Sunday, April 29 — Braselton Community Night with the Georgia Force

At 3:00 p.m., our favorite local arena football team — the Georgia Force —will take the field at the Arena at Gwinnett Center against the Arizona Rattlers. Discounted tickets are available for Braselton residents starting at $14 for lower level endzones. Click here to buy tickets.
