Barrow Today for Friday, June 22: Final Day to Help 'Give Burns the Boot'

Barrow County Emergency Services is wrapping up its 2012 fundraising efforts for the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation.

Today is the final day firefighters with will be standing, boots in hand, collecting donations for the “Give Burns the Boot” drive.

“Fundraising has been very successful thus far,” Chief Dennis Merrifield said in a news release. “I encourage citizens to give what they can to this deserving charity.”

Give Burns The Boot is the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation's primary source of fundraising, in which more than 100 fire departments throughout the state join together and collect funds to benefit the organization's mission and programs, such as Camp Oo-U-La, a summer camp for children who have suffered burns, that was recently held at .
